Cipriani 42nd Street, NYC

NEW YORK, April 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Grammy nominated Cuban-American singer, the divine CuCu Diamantes, will serve as chairman of the 2014 El Museo Gala on Wednesday, May 21, at Cipriani 42 Street, New York City. The evening, which is one of the most keenly awaited annual events on the NY social calendar, will also serve as a reunion of her band, Yerba Buena. "This is an evening of great pride for Latins and an evening of great interest to non-Latins; we could not possibly imagine a better moment for our band to make a special reunion appearance, the first in five years---and we promise it will be special. This will be a gala like no other and we hope everyone will dance till the wee hours." CuCu will be singing both new material from her upcoming solo album as well as Yerba Buena hits. This is the band's first reunion in six years.

The gala comes on the heels of Diamantes' recent appearance singing in the new Cameron Diaz film, "The Other Woman," directed by Nick Cassavetes, and just prior to the release of a new documentary film on Diamantes' musical tour of Cuba, "Amor Cronico" which will have it's own special screening at El Museo July 8(th).

A noted philanthropist in her own right, Diamantes is a spokesperson for Amnesty International's "Protect the Human" and "Stop Violence Against Women" campaigns. In 2009, she performed at a peace concert in Cuba to over a million fans. She is also a co-founder, with her husband, the multiple Grammy award winning Venezuelan-born producer, Andres Levin, of Music Has No Enemies, a nonprofit designed to spread social justice through film and music.

The 2014 El Museo Gala will also honor designer Alejandro Ingelmo and philanthropists Maria Eugenia Mauryand Dr. William A. Haseltine. Although almost sold out, a few tickets remain and can be purchased by contacting Livet Reichard Company (Ms. Lora Evinger 212.868.8450 ext.205 or lora@livetreichard.com).
