Boston Band The Singhs To Release Their Tony Visconti-Produced Album Science Fiction On Vinyl On May 6

BOSTON, March 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Boston area-based rock band The Singhs are releasing their latest album Science Fiction on 180g audiophile vinyl. Featuring 12 original songs, Science Fiction (Redstar Entertainment) was produced by legendary Grammy-winning music producer Tony Visconti (David Bowie, T. Rex, Moody Blues, Morrissey, Thin Lizzy, Paul McCartney, Angelique Kidjo, John Hiatt, etc.). It was mastered for vinyl by Alex de Turk at Masterdisk, supervised by Visconti and will come in both black vinyl and clear vinyl options. The special edition will include a high res digital download of the album.

Lead singer Jeet Singh's Redstar Union - a live performance/recording and internet streaming venue that hosts many artists and innovators in the Boston community and beyond - will participate in Music Tech Fest, a "festival of ideas" that mixes performances and presentations, demos, installations, as well as good old tinkering, when it comes to Boston March 21-23. Redstar will host the Hackathon beginning at Microsoft Research on Saturday, March 22 and migrating to Redstar overnight. With piles of toys to play with - from Surfaces, Kinects, and Xboxes to Arduinos, sensors and all manner of components - there will be some fantastic hack challenges and prizes. Redstar Union (along with Redstar Studios and Redstar Entertainment), is housed under Singh's parent company Redstar Media.

Concurrent with the launch of Science Fiction, The Singhs and Redstar released a free iPad app with a video game-like navigational interface that shares content including videos, lyrics, social media feeds, and live-streaming performances. The app operates on iPad 2 and later versions, and will also serve as a testing ground for new methods of distributing music. The app's second version is currently in development.

The Singhs recently completed a West Coast tour behind Science Fiction which took them to Seattle, Santa Cruz, Sacramento, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
