ESPN Radio 1000's SportsMedicineWeekly Begins New Season and New Air Time on March 29th

Line-Up Includes Nation's Foremost Sports Medicine Experts

CHICAGO, March 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- SportsMedicineWeekly, (SMW), an ESPN Radio (1000-AM) show, featuring interviews with sports medicine experts, will begin its weekly broadcast, Saturday, March 29 at 8:30 a.m. SMW is one of the only national radio shows focusing on preventing and treating sports injuries in all types of athletes, including the pros.

The show is hosted by Steve Kashul, Chicago Bulls Radio Personality, and Dr. Brian Cole, sports medicine specialist at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, head team physician for the Chicago Bulls and co-team physician for the Chicago White Sox.

Dr. Cole has been named one of the top sports medicine physicians in the U.S. and "NBA Team Physician of the Year" in 2009. Steve Kashul is a host on the Chicago Bulls Radio Network.

SMW provides insight into what professional athletes face in training and competition, as well as how the average person stays fit and injury-free. Topics include: overuse injuries, tips for injury prevention, how to stay fit off-season, obesity in sports and the importance of early intervention.

Guests for the March 29 show include Dr. James Andrews, renowned sports medicine physician for professional athletes, who is discussing 'Tommy John surgery' and its success in helping baseball pitchers return to play, and the late Dr. Frank Jobe, who pioneered the procedure. The show will include an interview about a new Accelerated Rehabilitation Centers throwing program that teaches prevention strategies to young pitchers and helps them avoid shoulder and elbow injuries.

The line-up for April includes Dr. Charles Bush-Joseph, sports medicine specialist at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush and head team physician for the Chicago White Sox, who will discuss the medical team's work during spring training.

Proceeds from show sponsors support the LiveActive Fund for Orthopedic Research and Education, a non-profit organization that focuses on the management of joint pain and cartilage disease at Rush University Medical Center and Midwest Orthopedics at Rush.
