20 years of stunning action footage of snowboard champion Sean White along with colleague Kevin Pearce's training accident, brain injury, and recovery

DURHAM, N.C., March 12, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Central Carolina First In Families (CCFIF) is proud to announce an exclusive benefit screening of the award-winning documentary "The Crash Reel". The action-packed snowboarding film documents the life altering traumatic brain injury suffered by U.S. champion snowboarder Kevin Pearce.

Thanks to a generous sponsorship by BAYADA Habilitation, CCFIF will be showing the film at The ArtsCenter at 300-G East Main Street in Carrboro, NC on March 20(th) at 7pm. The screening coincides with Brain Injury Awareness Month. All proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to supporting local families affected by a Traumatic Brain Injury or Developmental Disability. Made by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Lucy Walker, "The Crash Reel" explores the dangerous side of the popular extreme sport that nearly cost snowboarder Pearce his life during a training accident. The film documents the trajectory of Kevin Pearce's life from its pinnacle as a renowned snowboarder with Olympic aspirations, his terrible crash and coma, his recovery from a Traumatic Brain Injury, and his new role as an advocate for TBI research and education.
