Mana Contemporary Chicago Opens Photorealism Exhibition And More On February 15

CHICAGO, Jan. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Mana Contemporary Chicago presents an engaging evening of dynamic art and performance on Saturday, February 15. The event is free and open to the public.

A reception from 5 to 8 p.m. in Mana Contemporary Chicago's fifth floor gallery celebrates the opening of Photorealism in the Digital Age, a solo exhibition of recent photorealist paintings by New York-based Israeli artist Yigal Ozeri. Photorealism in the Digital Age will be exhibited from February 15 through April 15, 2014. Ozeri, one of the most significant Photorealist painters today, is known for his large-scale paintings of women who appear caught between the natural world and a dream-like state.

Also on view on the first floor, the University of Wisconsin Madison presents a graduate student exhibition, a/systemic: intersections, dislocations, and subversions. Selected works engage with and explore the boundaries of systems that exist both within and outside of formal art making.

During the February 15 opening event from 5 to 7 p.m. on the first floor, Honey Pot Performance presents Juke Cry Hand Clap, an interactive music performance focusing on house music as a conceptual ground to explore Black Chicago's social practices across the 20(th) century. And for a rollicking finish to the night, High Concept Laboratories presents their annual Valentine's Day Square Dance featuring the young Chicago string band Can I Get an Amen on the first floor from 8 p.m. to midnight. (Must be 21-plus to attend.)
