Bloxham and Ruth Hired to Lead New National Television and Video Practice

NEW YORK, Dec. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Frank N. Magid Associates announced a major expansion of its Television/Video research and consulting practice with the addition of industry veterans Mike Bloxham and Debby Ruth. The pair will jointly head the newly-formed National Television and Video Practice.

Magid has been a force across the broad media and entertainment ecosystem for over 50 years, working with a range of clients on programming, product development, marketing, price optimization, distribution, and cross-platform strategies, among other areas.

Mike Bloxham brings to Magid a wealth of experience in learning and understanding how and why people consume media, specifically television and video. Most recently Mike was with the Media Behavior Institute, a company that developed innovative research to measure and understand media behaviors by a wide range of variables including by time of day, location and need states. He is perhaps best known for his time leading research initiatives for the Center for Media Design at Ball State University, where his group was instrumental in uncovering and predicting changing media behaviors in the early days of the fragmentation that we take for granted today. In that role, Mike was relied upon to be a thought leader for the industry on a variety of topics, including using ethnography as a tool to better understand Americans' relationship with media and platforms.

Debby Ruth brings to Magid the big picture industry insight and strategic vision gained from well-rounded experience across the industry, including work in cable distribution, content, technology, and advertising. Debby was an early innovator in advanced advertising techniques and developing advertising opportunities in video on demand in her time with Cox Media. She also initiated groundbreaking research, with Magid, on consumer receptiveness to and recall of on demand advertising and a comprehensive view of media consumption in the Millennial generation. Debby is a strategy and innovation agent with a proven track record of increasing revenue and performance, solving business problems through a proactive balance of research, analysis and action.
