SANTA MONICA, Calif., Dec. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- FEARnet explores the darker side of space and self this January, with the broadcast premiere of the BAFTA Award-winning MOON, on Sunday, January 12, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The critically acclaimed sci-fi drama stars Sam Rockwell as Sam Bell, an astronaut nearing the end of a three-year solitary lunar mission. Suffering from hallucinations, with no one but the artificial intelligence program GERTY (Kevin Spacey) to keep him company, Sam makes an unsettling discovery and learns he's not as alone as he thought.

Additionally, FEARnet is offering two star-studded marathons this month with the William Castle "Castle-Vision" Marathon, and the "Sundance Showcase" Marathon. On Thursday, January 9, spend an evening with the Guru of Gimmicks, with the six-film shock-fest "Castle-Vision" Marathon, as FEARnet celebrates the works of legendary filmmaker William Castle. The original 13 GHOSTS (4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT) opens the evening, as a family inherits a house full of ghastly ghouls. Next, heads roll when an axe-murderess (Joan Crawford) comes home in STRAIT-JACKET (6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT). THE TINGLER (8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT) follows, as a scientist (Vincent Price) discovers parasites that feed off fear. Then, a doctor treats a disfigured baron, with horrifying results, in MR. SARDONICUS (10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT). And relatives gather at a macabre mansion in THE OLD DARK HOUSE (12 a.m. ET/9 p.m. PT). 13 FRIGHTENED GIRLS (2 a.m. ET/11 p.m. PT) brings the evening to an end, with a group of girls embroiled in international espionage.

Then, on Thursday, January 16, FEARnet brings Sundance to you, with these festival darlings with a genre edge in the "Sundance Showcase" Marathon. The night begins with the winner of Sundance's Special Jury Prize, as a teen girl uses a different kind of contraceptive in TEETH (6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT). Next, a couple's vacation becomes a fight for survival when they get stranded in OPEN WATER (8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT). Then, an astronaut (Sam Rockwell) learns he's not alone in MOON (10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT). And a father (Michael Shannon) is plagued by apocalyptic visions in the indie powerhouse TAKE SHELTER (12 a.m. ET/9 p.m. PT), which took home honors at the Independent Spirit Awards and Cannes Film Festival. The night closes as an aging exorcist (Anthony Hopkins) falls victim to demonic possession in THE RITE (3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT)... which wasn't actually at Sundance... but, hey, it's Anthony Hopkins.
