Coca-Cola hosts free screening of "MANDELA: Long Walk to Freedom" for college students on December 7 at AMC Pacific Place 11

SEATTLE, Dec. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Coca-Cola Company will host a VIP screening for college students of the new film "MANDELA: Long Walk to Freedom" on Saturday, December 7, at AMC Pacific Place 11. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the film begins at 7 p.m. "MANDELA: Long Walk To Freedom" is based on South African President Nelson Mandela's autobiography of the same name, which chronicles his early life, coming of age, education and 27 years in prison before becoming president and working to rebuild the country following the dismantling of apartheid.

The film stars Golden Globe Award winner Idris Elba, ("Luther," "Prometheus") as Nelson Mandela and Naomie Harris (Miss Moneypenny in the Bond movie,"Skyfall" ) as Winnie Mandela. The film is directed by Jason Chadwic ("The Other Boleyn Girl").

Admission to this special screening is free to college students, faculty and staff, but attendees must register using EventBrite at http://bit.ly/1cWPrTa. Seating for this event is limited, with tickets available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The evening will feature complimentary refreshments and an opportunity to win prizes.

South African native Anant Singh, who was raised in the apartheid era in the eastern coastal city of Durban, produced the film, a production of the Weinstein Company. Singh is recognized as South Africa's pre-eminent film producer, with more than 80 films since 1984. He is responsible for many of the most profound anti-apartheid films made in South Africa, including "Place of Weeping,""Sarafina!" and "Cry, the Beloved Country." In granting Singh the film rights to his autobiography, Mandela called him "a producer I respect very much ... a man of tremendous ability."
