Bell introduces convenient Travel Data Passes for mobile roaming, extends data roaming cost reductions to Europe, Mexico, China and other destinations
MONTREAL, Dec. 2, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Bell today launched Travel Data
Passes for mobile roaming, a convenient and easy to use option that
lets customers eliminate overage charges, track real-time data usage
and easily add data passes on the go if needed. Bell also today
announced further data roaming price reductions to more top
international destinations.
"Bell is committed to ensuring international roaming is affordable and
worry-free for our mobile customers. With real-time usage updates,
Travel Data Passes make it easy to buy and manage the data you need no
matter where you may roam," said Wade Oosterman, President of Bell
Mobility and Residential Services, and Chief Brand Officer at Bell.
"Bell continues to work with international telecom suppliers to cut the
cost of roaming to the places worldwide that Canadians travel to the
most. We started with the United States and Caribbean sun destinations
earlier this year, and we're pleased to extend data roaming price
reductions to Europe, Mexico, China and other major international
destinations today."
Convenient Travel Data Passes
Bell mobile customers can purchase Travel Data Passes before or during
travel using their mobile self-serve app. Those that haven't purchased
a Travel Data Pass when using their phone internationally will
automatically receive notification via free text message advising how
to easily buy a pass.
Mobile customers can check data usage in real time and are updated at
80% and 100% of their data consumption when roaming. Customers who
don't purchase a Travel Data Pass and continue to roam will be notified
when they've used $25 of data and will have data service suspended when
they reach $100.
Reduced data roaming rates for Europe, Mexico, China, Australia and more
Bell has reduced data roaming charges for countries in Zone 1, which
includes the UK, France, Italy, Germany and most other European
countries; Mexico; China; Turkey; Australia and New Zealand; and other
worldwide destinations. For $30, a Zone 1 Travel Data Pass includes 50
Megabytes of Internet and other data access - compared to the previous
price of $75 for 100 MB - and a reduction in the per-MB overage rate to
60 cents from 75 cents.
