Christmas Concert to Follow Grand Canyon University Basketball Game on Friday

Slam & Jam series features four free Christian concerts for hoop fans at GCU Arena

PHOENIX, Nov. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Lincoln Brewster will perform a Christmas concert Friday night following the Grand Canyon University men's basketball game vs. San Diego Christian to kick off the university's Slam & Jam concert series.

Slam & Jam features four Christian concert performances at GCU Arena during the Antelopes' inaugural Division I season that are free to anyone with a ticket to that night's basketball game. Basketball tickets are just $5 - less than it would cost to attend a concert performance from any of these artists. And family four-packs, which include soda and popcorn, are only $15.

Brewster is a national contemporary Christian recording artist and worship leader who has released eight albums, including his "Joy to the World" Christmas collection that will be prominent in Friday's postgame holiday concert.

Other Slam & Jam concerts that will follow GCU basketball games are:


-- Jan. 4 game vs. New Mexico State University: Jon Foreman, lead singer
and guitarist of multi-platinum rock band Switchfoot. He is known for
his Christian songwriting that reflects faith, hope and love.
-- Feb. 6 game vs. Utah Valley: Mercy Me, a multi-platinum Christian rock
and worship band with 13 albums and 13 consecutive singles that have
reached the top five of the Billboard Christian Songs chart, including
seven that reached No. 1.
-- Feb. 27 game vs. University of Missouri Kansas City: Jeremy Camp, a
contemporary Christian artist who has released 11 albums. He has been
nominated six times for the Christian Male Vocalist of the Year, winning
twice, and has 24 No. 1 radio hits, a Grammy nomination and five Dove
Awards.
Both of GCU's home games thus far in the 2013-14 season have been sell-outs. Stadium Journey, a website that reviews stadium experiences, recently gave basketball games at GCU Arena rave reviews, stating: "GCU is definitely doing it the right way. Out of the four different Arizona schools, GCU is easily the most fan-friendly."

Home games also feature pregame festivities on the quad outside of the arena, including a live band, 50-cent hamburgers, $1 slices of Papa John's pizza, food trucks and an alumni tailgate.

For Friday's 6 p.m. game vs. San Diego Christian and a game Dec. 3 vs. Vanguard, fans can also get a free ticket by donating a new toy to the university's Canyon Cares Christmas Crusade at the Arena box office. GCU is hoping to collect 5,000 toys for its Canyon Cares Christmas celebration on Dec. 8 to benefit surrounding Phoenix neighborhoods.
