Matthews to Share His Thoughts on How Ideological Opposites Can Get Things Done

CHICAGO, Nov. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- On November 14, Matthews will reflect on a unique time in American history, when two great political opponents - O'Neill and President Reagan - served together for the benefit of the country and became one of history's most celebrated political pairings. Prior to becoming a journalist, Matthews served as top aide to Speaker of the House, Tip O'Neil, and will share firsthand accounts of a different political era with The Executives' Club at its Chicago Global Leaders Luncheon.

Prior to his work with the Speaker, Matthews served in the Peace Corps, worked for the U.S. Senate and served as a presidential speechwriter. In the late 1980s, Matthews switched to full-time journalism. He began his career on television in 1994 and three years later, launched Hardball, now on MSNBC.
