Atlantic Highlands' Popular FilmOneFest Festival Announces its Short Film Awards

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, N.J., Aug. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Atlantic Highlands' popular short film festival held July 21(st) in the Municipal Harbor, showcased a creative and immense talent of filmmakers from all around the world, celebrating its 5(th) anniversary. This year, several films were the spotlight, as they reflected the remarkable spirit of the Jersey Shore after the devastation of Hurricane Sandy.

The films at the Short Short Film Festival this year truly reflected not only such extraordinary talent, but a passion for film making as numerous diverse stories were told from the independent film making community. In 2012, SmartMovieMaking.com called FilmOneFest "probably the best little film festival in the world".

This year our judges awarded six Jury Awards, three Spirit of the Shore Awards, a Best Animation Award, Directors' Choice Award and nine Honorable Mentions out of over 200 reviewed entries. All submissions can be seen on the free FilmOneFest app, at www.polymash.com/app/filmonefest-ii.

Spirit of the Shore: First Place: "Our Time to Shine" by David Allen, Second Place: "Oh Sandy, A New Dawn is Rising Behind You" by Paul Marcontell, Third Place: "The Sandy Project" by Neal Bennett. The first place Spirit of the Shore Award winner was awarded the "Star Shine" trophy created by Ralph Irons, as well as a $500 cash prize. The second and third place winners received $300 and $200.

This program is sponsored by the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council, and made possible by the Monmouth County Arts Council through funding from the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders, the County Historical Commission, and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National.
