WADL TV 38 Mayoral Debate Now Open To Labor Unions And General Public After Public Demands Access
SPARKS TO FLY ON TUESDAY JULY 30TH AT 8PM ON WADL TV 38
DETROIT, July 26, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- WADL TV 38 LIVE airing of the CITY OF DETROIT Mayoral Debate on July 30th is now open to the General Public and Labor Unions. Numerous phone calls were made to WADL demanding access to Candidates Mike Duggan, Benny Napoleon, Lisa Howze, Krystal Crittendon, Tom Barrow, and the rest of the field. As a result, WADL CEO and owner responded saying, "After talking to many Detroit residents and also members of unions such as AFSCME, DPOA and others, I decided it was the right thing to do to make available up to 300 seats in the audience for the Mayoral Debate on a first come, first serve basis. The public has a right to be on hand and to be represented. With the Primary Election taking place on Tuesday August 6th and all the controversy swirling around, I made this decision in the best interest of our community."
The Debate is set to take place at the Charles H. Wright Museum Of African American History (315 East Warren, Detroit), and will air LIVE on WADL TV 38 from 8pm-930pm, commercial free. However, according to owner Adell, if the situation dictates, the debate will continue to air well past 930pm. In addition to the public being invited, the debate will be moderated by co-sponsor, WWJ Newsradio 950 Anchorman, Tom Jordan. The panel of questioners will be comprised of Nolan Finley of The Detroit News, Stephen Henderson of The Detroit Free Press, and Debbie Dingell, President of d2 Strategies. For those who are unable to gain entry into the debate, WADL TV 38 will be setting up large video screens outside of the museum so attendees can watch the proceedings.
TV, Radio, and Print Media are invited to cover but no cameras will be allowed into the debate itself. Use of content from the debate is allowed, provided "Courtesy WADL TV 38" is visually displayed on TV and verbally given on radio. For media to make arrangements to attend, please reserve your space by calling Dody Johnson at WADL TV 38 at dody@wadldetroit.com or call 586-790-3838.
