SoundExchange Names Julia Massimino VP of Global Public Policy
WASHINGTON, July 17, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SoundExchange today announced the hire of Julia Massimino as vice president of Global Public Policy. In this newly created role, she will lead the organization's public policy and government affairs, supervise legislative matters, and guide overall public policy and strategy.
Julia has extensive experience on Capitol Hill, where she most recently spent more than 12 years working for Rep. Howard Berman (D-CA), a strong music industry supporter and the former chairman of the Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property and the Internet. In her role as chief of staff and counsel, Julia oversaw Rep. Berman's legislative agenda and provided strategic advice on a variety of issues. She has a wide-range of experience on public policy issues, including copyright law, administrative law, antitrust and communications issues.

Previously, Julia also served as majority counsel to the House Judiciary Committee - where she worked on a number of key legislative initiatives. She also previously served as counsel for former Congressman William Delahunt (D-MA) on matters before the Judiciary Committee.
Julia holds a law degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a master's degree from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs in Austin, Texas.
