NEW YORK, June 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- NAMIC (National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications) today announced a preview of the line-up to be presented at the 2013 NAMIC Annual Awards Breakfast. Scheduled for Wednesday, June 12th from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. EDT the NAMIC Annual Awards Breakfast will take place at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, DC.

Presented in conjunction with the National Cable Telecommunications Association's Cable Show as part of Cable Connection - Spring, this year's NAMIC Annual Awards Breakfast will feature a keynote address by political and civil rights icon, U.S. Congressman James E. Clyburn, (D-SC - 6th District). Elected to Congress in 1993, Congressman Clyburn was named Co-President of his Freshman Class, quickly rising through the leadership ranks. As Assistant Democratic Leader in the 113th Congress and the number three Democrat in the House, Clyburn serves as the leading liaison to the Appropriations Committee and one of the Democratic Caucus' primary liaisons to the White House.
Among the roster of distinguished speakers is renowned filmmaker Robert Rodriguez representing the El Rey Network, an action-packed general entertainment, English-language cable network he founded that is scheduled to launch later this year. Additionally, Univision News anchors, Enrique Acevedo and Teresa Rodriguez are confirmed as co-hosts of the 2013 NAMIC Annual Awards Breakfast. This year's program will be further highlighted by the appearances of U.S. Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham(D-NM); U.S. Congresswoman Doris Matsui(D-CA - 6th District); U.S. Congresswoman and Congressional Black Caucus Chair Marcia Fudge(D-OH); David Cohen, EVP, Comcast Corporation; and Jose Diaz-Balart, Telemundo Network News Anchor and Host.
This year's NAMIC Annual Awards Breakfast will continue to highlight Next Generation Leaders Awards, up-and-coming executives that are achieving professional success, while demonstrating a commitment to advancing multi-ethnic diversity in the communications industry. Presented in partnership with Multichannel News, the Next Generation Leaders Awards honor executives of color age 45 and under in four categories: Cable MSO, Cable Programmer, Technology Company or Discipline, and Creative Discipline.
The 2013 honorees include: Cable Programmer - Christine Bragan, Vice President, Marketing and Communications, AMC Networks; Cable MSO - Rich Jennings, Regional Senior Vice President, Mile High, Comcast Cable; Creative Discipline - Michelle Hord-White, Vice President, Talent Development and Pipeline Programs, NBCUniversal; and Technology Company or Discipline - Dhanusha Sivajee, Vice President, Marketing, Bloomberg Mobile.
