LG Electronics Launches Free Electronic Program Guide For Pro:Centric® Hospitality Customers

Interactive EPG Service Bundled with Pro:Centric TVs Offers Hoteliers Valuable Guest Content, Eliminates Programming Costs

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill., June 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The industry leader in hotel- and guest-centric display and content delivery solutions, LG Electronics USA, announced today that all Pro:Centric LCD televisions for hospitality customers now include a free Interactive Electronic Program Guide (IEPG) data service.

The Pro:Centric Electronic Program Guide allows hotel guests to easily navigate "free-to-guest" TV channels and select programs in a format that replicates their home entertainment experience. LG Electronics is making the complementary IEPG service available to all hotel properties that have purchased Pro:Centric televisions and install a Pro:Centric server to deliver and manage the service at their property.

In addition to an enhanced guest experience, hotel operators benefit from a reduction in in-room printing costs for channel lineup cards and TV guides. The EPG service is independent of the satellite or cable TV provider, so it can be retained when switching between providers.

An electronic program guide service can cost as much as $1.50 per room per month. From boutique hotels to expansive resorts, eliminating this monthly cost equates to substantial reduction in operational overhead. A property with 250-500 rooms can save $4,500-$9,000 annually in licensing fees.

"The access to IEPG data complements a host of interactive features and operational benefits that make LG's Pro:Centric platform a robust solution for hotel operators," said Richard Lewis, senior vice president, research and technology for LG Electronics' U.S. R&D Lab, Zenith. "Giving hoteliers a way to manage and improve the guest experience digitally is especially valuable in this era, when many travelers turn more and more to a screen instead of calling the front desk."

With more than 1 million Pro:Centric TVs already deployed worldwide, Pro:Centric is an industry-leading interactive platform for the lodging sector. Pro:Centric applications can provides guests with information at their fingertips, acting as a digital concierge, enabling guests to view hotel amenities such as spa treatments, restaurants, and golf via billboards presented on their hotel room TVs. This exclusive LG solution is simple to install and has an admin-client Graphical User Interface for remote administration and maintenance using a secure remote Virtual Private Network client.

"By providing a simple means of access to hotel services and amenities, Pro:Centric promotes a consistent revenue stream for hoteliers," said Lewis. "With the enhanced guest experience and tremendous cost savings from the free Pro:Centric IEPG data service, this is a robust hospitality solution that's hard to beat."
