Documentary Chronicles Beauty Pageant For Young Girls with Disabilities

Who: Easter Seals friends and families, HBO, Comcast, local Chicago media personalities along with the girls featured in the documentary celebrate the premiere of "MISS YOU CAN DO IT," a film that highlights a wonderful event where inner beauty reigns. Filmmaker Ron Davis and "Miss You Can Do It" Pageant Founder, Abbey Curran are the special guests. Curran was Miss Iowa USA 2008, a former long-time Easter Seals client and the first woman with a disability to compete at the Miss USA Pageant.

What: A premiere screening of an inspiring film about a pageant that takes place one weekend each year when young girls, along with family and friends, spend time in an oasis of fun, femininity and celebration. No one leaves the pageant empty-handed, with each girl receiving a special award. "MISS YOU CAN DO IT" also celebrates the heroism of their parents and families, who openly describe how the heartbreak of learning that their child was different quickly gave way to loving patience, dedication and a new appreciation for the joys and challenges of raising a child with special needs. Directed and produced by Ron Davis, "MISS YOU CAN DO IT" debuts MONDAY, JUNE 24 exclusively on HBO.

Visuals: More than 100 girls and young women, both typically-developing and those living with disabilities being treated to a Hollywood-style movie premiere complete with a "pink" carpet and "paparazzi." Girls will also enjoy planned activities including: face painting station, hair styling, nail salon and crafts area.
