Wearing Indian Dancing Shoes at Cannes

Cannes Film Festival came to a glittering end with Bollywood making a big splash this
year especially because the 100 years celebration of Indian cinema at Cannes. Indians were
all over Cannes from jury to red carpet, making a statement always.

One couple that made a subtle statement was dancer-choreographer Sandip Soparrkar and
his super model wife Jesse Randhawa. They were invited at the festival to represent India
for the dancing world that its cinema is world famous for.



Jesse who is also an actress says, "Being at Cannes was an honor for me, this was my
first visit to the French Riviera and I had a great time meeting people from the
International film fraternity."



Sandip is well-known for his dancing, teaching and choreographing skills, with
experience of working with Madonna, Shakira, Britney Spears, Beyonce Knowles, Jackie Chan
and more. He adds, "Getting an invitation to be a part of such a prestigious festival and
that too to represent my country 'India' and its dance community was something that I am
happy about. The Cannes festival is one of the most talked about film event in the world
and I am glad we could make the Indian dance community presence and impact felt there."



Jesse and Sandip walked the red carpet for four evenings dressed elegantly at all
times, be it a flowing gown or a Swarovski crystal dress - Jesse was indeed India's super
model there, dressed each evening in designer Gavin Miguel creations. On the other hand
Sandip worn well-fitted Tux by Deepak Shah of More Mischief and even showed off his
traditional side in a black Shervani on the last night.

About Sandip Soparrkar:



A German-trained Ballroom Dance Teacher, who is the first Indian to be certified by
the 'Ballroom Dance Teachers Training School' in Bonn, Germany. He was the partner to the
former European Ballroom Champion for nine years. He is qualified to teach all Latin
American and Standard Ballroom dances till championship level. He was ranked 4th in the
internationally recognized Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing.



In 2004, The Queen of England & The Prince of Wales, have written personal letters of
appreciation to Sandip Soparrkar for promoting Ballroom and Latin American dance culture
in India. Sandip and his partner Jesse Randhawa were the only Indian performers who were
invited to dance at the Royal wedding reception of Prince William and Kate Middleton at
Buckingham Palace on 29th April 2011.



In 2011, he was invited to perform at the closing ceremony of the World Economic
Forum, Davos, Switzerland.



In 2012, the Prestigious Plymouth Dance Festival, UK, invited Sandip to perform the
opening and the closing dance of the festival.
