The Broad Stage Celebrates Its Upcoming Sixth Season With Special Guests And Major Announcements

EXTRAVAGANZA OF PERFORMANCES INCLUDES A SPECIAL (SECRET) TRIBUTE BY ANNA DEAVERE SMITH

MONDAY, APRIL 8th, 2013, 11:45 AM - 1:15 PM










What: The Broad Stage celebrates its upcoming sixth season with the announcement
of several exciting, new programs in a presentation with performances,
including remarks by The Broad Stage Director Dale Franzen, Founder Eli
Broad, Board of Directors Chairman Austin Beutner, Superintendent/
President of Santa Monica College Dr. Chui L. Tsang and actress,
playwright and educator Anna Deavere Smith, among others.



The morning will begin with one-on-one interviews starting at 11:45 am.
At 12 pm, the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance Ensemble will
perform. At 12:20 pm, the presentations will begin, featuring an
exceptional lineup of announcements, including video remarks from Quincy
Jones and Placido Domingo. Afternoon performances will include Cuban jazz
pianist Alfredo Rodriguez, Grammy(R) Award-winning cellist Lynn Harrell,
and actor Denis O'Hare. Acknowledgments from Jubilant Sykes, as well as
other artists present, will be followed by a special performance by Los
Angeles-based dance company, BODYTRAFFIC.

jazz pianist Alfredo Rodriguez; cellist Lynn Harrell, R&B singer Jubilant
Sykes; Brazilian jazz artist Luciana Souza, and actor Denis O'Hare.
