America Teve Wins 4 Florida Associated Press Awards, 2 First Place

America Teve was the only Hispanic station to have been honored by the Associated Press in the state of Florida, taking home 4 statuettes in 4 categories

MIAMI, April 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- America Teve is proud to announce its 4 prizes at the Florida Associated Press Broadcasters Contest. The awards, which honor the best in television and radio from around the state, were presented at a banquet held in Orlando on Saturday, April 27.

America Teve won first place in the Continuing Coverage category with "Tragica Desaparicion: Christian Aguilar" ("Tragic Disappearance: Christian Aguilar"), a series by Gina Romero and Alberto Porras. Romero and Porras followed the story of a young man that disappeared and was presumed to have been assassinated by his best friend. In the Investigative Series category, America Teve also won the first place with "Los Secretos de los Narcos" ("The Secrets of the Druglords"), by Adriana Mocciola, Yossie Galindo, Jesus Diaz and Adrian Mauceri. "Los Secretos de los Narcos" uncovered the darkest secrets of some of the most controversial in the history of the drug wars.

In the category of Reporting, "SOS Accidente Cerebrovascular" ("SOS Cerebrovascular Accident") by Adriana Navarro, Adriana Mocciola, Luis Quian and Fernando Sanchez won second place. "Mujeres reales o de fantasia?" ("Real or fantasy women?") by Adriana Mocciola, Yvette Lewis, Adrian Valdes, Luis Quian and Juan Carlos Santizo won second place in the category of Light Feature.
