Zenverge and Cortina® to Demonstrate Industry Leading Multiscreen Media Gateway Reference Design at CES
High-Performance Platform Supports Convergence of IP and Broadcast Video. Enables Pay-TV Operators to Cost-Effectively Deliver HD Video on Any Device
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Zenverge, a leading developer of advanced content networking ICs, today announced that it will join technology partner, Cortina® Systems, Inc., in demonstrating their innovative new headless media gateway reference design at The Palazzo® hotel in Las Vegas, Jan 8-10, 2013, concurrent with CES 2013. The reference platform leverages Zenverge's industry-leading ZN200 quad stream HD transcoder IC and Cortina's CS7542 scalable digital home service delivery SoC to support high-quality multiscreen video delivery while dramatically reducing operational expenses for pay-TV operators.
"The technology collaboration with Zenverge unites best-of-breed video service gateway and transcoding technologies in a single, integrated platform," said Dr. Stewart Wu, vice president at Cortina Systems. "Pay-TV operators challenged by an ever-increasing number of devices and delivery specifications can join us at CES to witness the bandwidth efficiency and exceptional HD video quality offered by our joint reference design platform."
The CES demo will showcase multichannel transcoding via the Zenverge ZN200 and Cortina CS7542 digital home service delivery platform technologies to distribute video to six client devices. Utilizing the ZN200's powerful TransAll(TM) transcoding engine, the joint reference media gateway platform can stream HD video to devices that are otherwise incapable of processing broadcast video content. The robust transcoding engine seamlessly transcodes video content to any profile, bit rate, or resolution in order to account for a wide variety of video delivery devices and specifications. Cortina's CS7542 provides content encapsulation and delivery of IP and broadcast video content for whole home multiscreen distribution. By adopting a headless media gateway approach to multiscreen video delivery, Zenverge and Cortina ensure operators can support IP video via a gateway that resides in a location independent of the television, thereby eliminating the need for physical connections to video rendering devices.
The ZN200 family of content networking ICs is designed specifically to reduce operators' capital expenditures by expanding their traditional set-top box business model to reach a wider range of devices, making it the ideal solution for in-home multiscreen support. Cortina's CS7542 addresses the emergence of IPTV technology and the convergence of DVB, router gateways, and DVR set-top boxes by providing operators with a single delivery platform capable of supporting simultaneous line rate bandwidth for secured data, voice, video, and mobile services without service degradation. The platform's cutting-edge IPSec and enterprise class QoS/routing performance make it an ideal solution for powerful digital home and SMB networking appliances.
"Consumers today want to have a compelling multiscreen experience anywhere, anytime, and on any device," said Shawn Saleem, executive vice president of marketing at Zenverge. "At CES, Zenverge and Cortina will demonstrate how operators can easily support multiscreen services while minimizing costs."
