RLTV And Next Avenue Announce Content Partnership

RLTV And Next Avenue Announce Content Partnership

BALTIMORE, Jan. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- RLTV, the only cable network and online destination for adults 50+, and Next Avenue (nextavenue.org), the first fully editorial website in the PBS system focused on Americans 50+, have joined together in a content sharing partnership. Under the agreement, RLTV will license for its website (www.rl.tv) targeted, mission- and category-aligned content that is selected from among Next Avenue's rich array of original articles and blogs. The agreement also allows for Next Avenue to develop custom exclusive online content for RLTV in the future. The content begins appearing on rl.tv effective immediately.

Twin Cities Public Television launched Next Avenue earlier this year in partnership with PBS, APT, and public television stations nationwide. Next Avenue, with principal offices in St. Paul, publishes original articles and blogs daily on everything from work and relationships after 50 to culinary explorations and caregiving for aging parents - all written and edited by veteran journalists. In addition to its original content, Next Avenue editors curate and feature information from more than 27 content partners, including NIH's National Institute on Aging, Medline Plus and the National Institute for Financial Education.

RLTV is designed to engage viewers and online users on topics that matter to Generation 50+, from relationships, reinvention, rediscovering passions, to finances, health, current events, exploration and retirement.

"A content partnership between Next Avenue and RLTV makes perfect sense," said Next Avenue President Judy Diaz. "Both organizations have a similar mission in seeking to serve the 50+ audience. What's more, independently we focused our work on similar content categories. There is good alignment. We look forward to working together to implement this new public-private content relationship."

"This partnership creates a synergistic, multi-platform opportunity in which RLTV can broaden its focus and provide a deeper, richer and more relevant experience for our viewers, advertisers and distributors," said RLTV President and CEO Paul FitzPatrick. "We are proud to join with Judy Diaz, Next Avenue and Twin Cities Public Television CEO Jim Pagliarini, and their terrific team to make this new opportunity a big success."
