Red Bull Noise Complaint Celebrates New Jersey's Underground Music Culture

Red Bull Noise Complaint Celebrates New Jersey's Underground Music Culture

Annual Show Postponed by Superstorm Sandy to Make Return at Atlantic City's House of Blues February 22nd

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., Jan. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- When it comes to underground music, New Jersey has always had one of the strongest scenes around. From punk and hardcore to rock and folk, both local and touring musicians have benefited from this community network of hardworking artists and DIY venues. On February 22, New Found Glory will headline Red Bull Noise Complaint show in Atlantic City to celebrate the history of this scene.

Red Bull Noise Complaint is an event that tells the story of the bands who have struggled to rise out of the basements of New Jersey to national acclaim. And each year, it gives back to the scene that has given us so many memorable artists.

This edition of Red Bull Noise Complaint has taken on a special meaning after Superstorm Sandy created one of the largest natural disasters in US history. The first element of Red Bull Noise Complaint, a showcase of some of New Jersey's most promising up and coming acts at the infamous Court Tavern in New Brunswick, was nearly canceled when Sandy flooded thousands of homes and left millions without power including many in the regional music scene. But the bands and crowd managed to come together for a memorable night on November 3.

The Scandals, of Bayonne, New Jersey who formed in 2004, were selected to open for New Found Glory at the culmination of Noise Complaint. A straight-forward punk band, they have shared the stage with the likes of the Bouncing Souls, The Casualties, Youth Brigade, The Briggs, Agent Orange, U.S. Bombs, D.R.I., and the legendary HR of Bad Brains. Noise Complaint is designed to not only tell the story of New Jersey's underground music scene, but help a hardworking band like The Scandals reach a new audience.

Superstorm Sandy also wrecked the Starland Ballroom - the venue hosting the New Found Glory show - forcing the event to reschedule to House of Blues in Atlantic City, where the Scandals, pop-inspired Man Overboard, and post-punkers the Menzingers, will open for New Found Glory.

With so many local musicians affected, Red Bull decided to tweak the charity component of the project. $1 from each ticket sold to this monumental show will go directly to Stay Strong Jersey, a 501(c)(3) created by longtime members of New Jersey's music scene, who are dedicated to helping Sandy victims.
