Media General Strengthens Broadcast Websites and Mobile Platforms with New Worldnow Content Management System

RICHMOND, Va., Jan. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Media General, Inc. (NYSE: MEG), a broadcast television and digital media company, announced today that it is strengthening the content and technology for its broadcast websites and mobile platforms with a new content management system provided by Worldnow.

"Worldnow's content management system was created with broadcasters in mind," said Andy Lobred, vice president, digital media for Media General. "Worldnow's extensive broadcast-centric experience has helped deliver strong audience and revenue growth across their existing 450+ managed websites. Our partnership will allow our stations to leverage Worldnow's technology, content and revenue best practices in new and exciting ways."

Worldnow's content management system is designed specifically for broadcasters and provides a single workflow between newsrooms, websites and mobile devices. The new system will enable Media General's newsrooms to provide richer content more efficiently and with greater immediacy for their audiences. As part of the partnership, Worldnow will provide national advertising sales support and a select set of local advertising training and programs. Television stations also will have access to Worldnow's national and niche digital content.

Today, Media General's station in Tampa, Fla., launched a new website, wfla.com, which is also the company's first broadcast website to use the Worldnow system. Media General's 17 other television station websites will convert to the Worldnow content management system in the first quarter of 2013.
