SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jan. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Expanding a tradition of extraordinary generosity and major contributions to the cultural life of Los Angeles, the Lloyd E. Rigler-Lawrence E. Deutsch Foundation announced today a $350,000 unrestricted gift to strengthen the recital series at The Eli & Edythe Broad Stage at the Santa Monica College Performing Arts Center. This gift is in addition to the initial gift of $500,000 in February 2011.
Under Director Dale Franzen, The Broad Stage, an intimate 499-seat state-of-the-art theater and currently in its fifth season, has presented an impressive roster of renowned classical artists and world-class opera singers with the underwriting support from the Foundation. Metropolitan Opera stars Juan Diego Flórez, Karita Mattila, Piotr Beczala, Joyce DiDonato and instrumentalists such as Joshua Bell, Richard Goode, Nadja Solerno-Sonnenberg and Lynn Harrell.
Sunday, March 17(th) at 6:00PM, The Broad Stage will feature the superstar soprano Angela Gheorghiu in her west coast recital debut.
