NEW YORK, Nov. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Monday October 29, 2012 should have been the experience of a lifetime for attendees at the Thurgood Marshall College Fund's (TMCF) 25(th) Anniversary Awards Gala here in New York City; highlighted by a performance by international renowned recording artists and humanitarian Wyclef Jean and hosted by CeCe And BeBe Winans. However, due to the expected arrival of Hurricane Sandy, TMCF has been forced to cancel this special celebration.

For the last four days 500 of the best and brightest students from around the country have been gathered in NYC at the Hilton Hotel at our Developing Minds...Delivering Dreams conference for intensive leadership and professional development training with some of the leading experts in their fields. For these young leaders, many of which are first-generation college students, this is a unique opportunity to chart their course for their future in a diverse global workforce.

We are facing over $250,000 in added expenses as a result of this natural disaster. Please help the students by donating any amount, which will aid in their transportation, housing and food costs.
