More than 300 Attend Screening Event and Film Discussion at MoMA; Foundation Awards IFP Director's Grant to Filmmaker Stacie Passon
NEW YORK, Nov. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Adrienne Shelly Foundation (ASF), a non-profit organization dedicated to the memory of adored writer, director and actor Adrienne Shelly, hosted its second annual "Woman of Vision Salute" to celebrate accomplished and aspiring women filmmakers. The fundraising event featured a screening and discussion on Nora and Delia Ephron's classic film, This is My Life. More than 300 attended the event at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), which included a conversation on the film hosted by actress and filmmaker Lena Dunham and author, screenwriter, and playwright Delia Ephron (Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail).
At the "Woman of Vision Salute," filmmaker Stacie Passon was honored as recipient of this year's Adrienne Shelly Foundation/IFP Director's Grant for her film CONCUSSION. The Adrienne Shelly Foundation awards talented women filmmakers for their work and helps to support their artistic achievements and aid in the advancement of their careers.
"We were deeply honored to celebrate these three accomplished women filmmakers who embody such tremendous passion, spirit and determination. The evening was both a tribute to the accomplishments of these great individuals and a powerful event to help us advance our mission of empowering women filmmakers," said ASF founder and executive director Andy Ostroy, who is also Adrienne's widower. "We also had an opportunity to shine fresh attention on a film gem, This is My Life, one of the early projects of Nora and Delia Ephron."
The screening of This is My Life was followed by an interview-style conversation led by Dunham with Delia Ephron that covered the making of the film and how real life inspires writing, as well as the challenges of balancing family, work and fame.
