KTDO Telemundo Wins El Paso's Only Emmy
Telenoticias El Paso's Ivette Sanchez received the award for the report Inocencia Tras Las Rejas
DALLAS, Nov. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- ZGS Communications is proud to announce that Telemundo El Paso's Telenoticias' local reporter Ivette Sanchez was awarded an Emmy for the story Inocencia Tras Las Rejas (Innocence Behind Bars) in the category, Feature News Report-Serious Series. The awards were announced Saturday night at the 10(th) Annual Lone Star Emmy Awards held at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas. The Lone Star EMMY Chapter serves all 19 television markets in Texas and is chartered by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). Telemundo El Paso was the only television station in the market regardless of language, to receive an Emmy.

Sanchez's report was an in-depth look at children growing-up in prison with their mothers in Juarez, Mexico. This was Sanchez's first Emmy and nomination. Telenoticias Reporter FernandaCamarena and Photographer/Editor Alonso Velasquez also received nominations in the category Feature News Report - Serious Feature Series for the report Juarez No Esta Muerto (Juarez is Not Dead).
Telemundo El Paso has steadily gained ground since its entry into the market two years ago, doubling its A25-54 audience for early evening news under the direction of Uriel Posada. The station is also the Spanish-language leader in primetime, commanding almost half of the A25-54 audience according to the latest survey from Nielsen Media.
