A talk and film event was held at the Roppongi Hills on October 21, featuring a screening of PES (Peace Eco Smile), an original animation series produced by TOYOTAXSTUDIO4C (http://www.toytoyota.com/pes/en/ ), as well as a music concert and talk with creators to share their ideas that underlie Toyota's production process, and its attitude to go into the international scene. The second half then included a screening of "Toyota dream car art contest" (http://www.toyota-global.com/events/dream_car_art_contest/). Toyota has been holding the event every year to help children develop and express their creativity and to share dreams with them, and Chie Morimoto, who creates a corporate message film for Toyota driven by the dreams and hopes of the children, appeared onstage to talk about the passion that holds up the dreams of children. "Pictures by the children around the world are the energy for a manufacturing company and make them real along with our dreams," said Takao Minai (TSMS), Executive Producer of PES. Morimoto said, "Children are very excited and want Toyota to realize their ideas, so their presentation is very grandiose and circuitous." Within the special cultural framework of TIFF, the packed event was an opportunity to learn what is fun about eco-friendliness and joy of mobility.
Human evolution is represented by mobility that brings new discovery and impression. Meanwhile, Toyota defines a vision for development of a sustainable society as a huge dream, which is to realize an environmentally-friendly society while satisfying basic human needs. When it all comes true, mobility will have a social and cultural meaning, not only a way of transportation.
Hybrid technology is the core for eco-friendly car development. Toyota aims for symbiosis between humans and nature by minimizing energy consumption and producing the joy of mobility. From a cultural point of view, expressing these corporate images by means of the arts like film is essential for the realization of a sustainable society.
