Former Kit Digital Executive Fearghal Kelly Appointed CEO of Digisoft.tv
CORK, Ireland, October 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Move comes in anticipation of record growth in license sales in 2013
The Board of Directors of Digisoft.tv, a leading global provider of set top box
middleware for the cable, satellite, terrestrial and telecommunications industry, today
announced the immediate appointment of Fearghal Kelly to the position of Chief Executive
Officer. Fearghal Kelly is an established industry expert with over 18 years at the
forefront of the OTT revolution. He will be bringing his partnership track record to bear
on the establishment and development of a global partner channel, further consolidating
the global network supporting the high demand for Digisoft.tv's hybrid set top box
middleware, Iris. License sales are expected to grow in excess of 100% in 2013.
Speaking on behalf of the Board, Chairman Pat McDonagh said, "We believe that Fearghal
is the right person for this next phase of Digisoft's evolution. By combining our Iris STB
product with Fearghal's vast industry experience, we believe that this combination will
propel Digisoft.tv to become the market leader in the IPTV, hybrid, media and
entertainment markets."
"The Digisoft team has worked hard to produce the most innovative set top box
software," said Mr. Kelly. "Using open standards, Iris will enable operators to move
straight to hybrid delivery at a price point that is a fraction of current
implementations."
Fearghal joins Digisoft.tv after six years with leading systems integration firm ioko
and Kit Digital where he set up and ran their media practice. During his time ioko's
turnover grew significantly on the back of clients such as BBC, 4OD, ITV, RTE, Filmflex
and Lovefilm. In April 2012, ioko was taken over by Kit Digital and Kelly became SVP of
Global Partnership Development. Before joining ioko, he was Deputy Head of Technology at
BBC Broadcast (Red Bee Media), where he started the product development group. He was
technical architect and build manager of the first BBC iPlayer in 2002. Prior to this he
was Head of Interactive Technology at Teletext.
Kelly holds a BSc from University of Manchester and an HCI Masters from University
College London (UCL).
