Box Azteca to Break a Guinness Record to Support Breast Cancer Awareness

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Azteca America dresses up in pink this Saturday, October 27, in the month of breast cancer prevention, with a striking special edition of Box Azteca's 'Mujer a Mujer' to fight against this terrible disease.

Join Azteca America in an unprecedented boxing event for Spanish-language television; six matches, 12 female boxers, with all the commissioners, judges, announcers and referees also female, breaking a Guinness Record. All boxers will wear pink gloves and fight in a matching ring, with the conviction to defeat this disease.

"Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women in the United States," said Martin Breidsprecher, CEO of Azteca America. "We hope that this special match serves to increase awareness, especially among the Latina population, which is less likely than the general population to detect the disease in early stages."

To show their support, employees of Azteca America and affiliated stations will wear a pink garment on Friday, October 26, joining the fight against this disease. Beverly Oncology Women Foundation in Los Angeles will be giving free mammograms and clinical breast screenings on October 27 to viewers who send text messages during the match.
