Drafthouse Films & Films We Like Sign Multi-Picture Deal For Canada
"The Ambassador", "Wrong" And "Bullhead" Among Titles To Be Represented In The Deal
TORONTO, Sept. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Drafthouse Films announced a partnership with Films We Like at the Toronto International Film Festival for distribution of their curated brand of provocative, visionary and artfully unusual films throughout Canada. The first film in the deal is a theatrical, home video and multi-platform release this fall for The Ambassador, a fearless, first-hand expose of blood diamond smuggling in the Central African Republic that the Los Angeles Times says is like "the heart of gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson beating within the body of comedian Sasha Baron Cohen."

In addition to The Ambassador, the deal also includes Quentin Dupieux's willfully surreal comedy Wrong, which premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival, about a man's frantic search for his kidnapped dog and the strange characters he encounters along the way, and Michael R. Roskam's Oscar® nominated Bullhead which was cited by The New York Times as "impressive... a stark tragedy of masculinity and its chemical boundaries."
"We were initially drawn to the name of Ron Mann's integral operation which is also his mission statement," says Drafthouse Films' COO James Emanuel Shaprio, "and we share the same mantra at Drafthouse Films by only distributing the films we truly love and believe in. Films We Like is a perfect DNA match for our brand and we are thrilled to have our films represented in Canada."
"I am thrilled to present Drafthouse's hand-picked genre movies in Canada," added Ron Mann. "I have been a long-time fan of the Drafthouse brand which revolutionized movie going at the Alamo Drafthouse and mind-bended audiences at the annual Fantastic Fest."
The deal was negotiated by Ron Mann, President of Films We Like and James Emanuel Shapiro of Drafthouse Films.
