WXYZ-TV Names Mike Murri New Station Manager

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Aug. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- WXYZ-TV announced today that Director of Sales Mike Murri has been named Channel 7's Station Manager. In his new role, Murri will oversee day-to-day operations of WXYZ, the Scripps Broadcasting-owned ABC affiliate in Detroit.

"Mike has tremendous knowledge of the Detroit market and a history of success with the organization," said WXYZ Vice-President and General Manager Ed Fernandez. "More importantly, the passion and dedication he brings to his work makes him the ideal candidate to assume this role."

Murri is a twenty-nine year veteran of the station. He began his career with WXYZ as an Account Executive in 1983 and became Local Sales Manager in 1996. He was named Director of Sales in 2001.

Murri is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. He currently serves on the Sales Advisory Board for ABC.

Murri lives in Rochester Hills with his wife Mary. He has three children: Lauren, Katie and Michael.
