State Drops All Charges Against SBS Executive Jesus Salas

State Drops All Charges Against SBS Executive Jesus Salas

MIAMI, Aug. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The well known radio industry executive, Jesus Salas, EVP of Programming for SBS, was cleared of all charges on August 3, 2012 by the Miami-Dade Circuit and County Court.

Salas, who was charged on assault, aggravation and possession of a firearm, had vigorously and consistently stated his innocence during the last month of interviews and court proceedings. In a recent hearing the state attorney declined to prosecute and dismissed the charges due to insufficient evidence.

"We were confident that Mr. Salas would come out of this victoriously. The plaintiff's allegations were false in nature and there was no evidence to support any of the charges he was arrested under," said defense attorney, William Tunkey of Robbins, Tunkey, Ross, Amsel, Raben & Waxman, P.A.

"Unfortunately this incident was significantly taken out of context by the police, and as a result the entire Salas family has suffered both emotionally and economically. My client is committed to minimizing the best he can the emotional harm suffered by his family, and is thankful the state attorney's office recognized that the charges filed against him were without merit," commented John Agnetti, Esq. of Hoffman, Larin & Agnetti, P.A.

"I am happy that this is finally over. This is an unfortunate situation my family and I have endured, and we're ready to put this behind us and move forward. I have never had any problems with the law, not even a parking ticket," said Salas.

Salas is now focusing on his career along with his charitable endeavors. He has been a pillar in the community and both he and SBS have been engaged in significant charitable works.

"Congratulations to Jesus on a wonderful outcome! I always knew he would be totally vindicated," said Raul Alarcon Jr., CEO and Chairman for SBS.

"Jesus has been a long time friend and colleague. In the many years of knowing him, I have come to experience a true friend and have seen a great son, husband and father. We were all surprised at the allegations and could not believe this was true in any respect," expressed Emilio Estefan, CEO of Estefan Enterprises.

Salas, a long-time industry executive and currently the EVP of Programming for Spanish Broadcasting System, began his career as an air personality and got his first programming job at age 19. In 1997 he was named PD for WSKQ-FM & WPAT-FM/New York.

In 2004, he joined Univision Radio as a program director, and then two years later accepted a post as senior PD with XM Satellite Radio. While at XM he spearheaded a successful national marketing campaign to grow the Hispanic subscriber base. In his current post with SBS, Salas oversees stations in the top U.S. Hispanic markets of New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco, and Puerto Rico. He received the prestigious award Medallas de Cortez medal from Radio Ink Hispanic Radio for Programmer of the Year/Market 1-25. Salas resides in Miami, FL.
