Radio Station Rock 103.9 Sees Ratings Soar with Help of Audingo
Audio-visual social media platform allows jocks to connect with listeners on a deeper level
AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Audingo, pioneer of an audio-visual social media platform offering mobile users an unprecedented level of personalized interaction with public personalities and organizations, helped drive significant increases in the ratings of radio station Rock 103.9, which airs to the Bryan-College Station, TX, two-book Arbitron diary market. As part of its pilot plan, Audingo signed on Rock 103.9, which consistently used the platform to engage with listeners via personalized phone calls, texts and emails. The platform also allows for personalities to send videos to fans who can join in on the conversation via the "talk back" feature.
Now, over a year since Rock 103.9 adopted the Audingo platform to connect with fans, the station has seen its ratings soar. Comparing station Arbitron ratings performance in the survey prior to introducing Audingo (Fall 2010) to the recently released Spring 2012 survey yields the following impressive results:
-- Station overall Persons 12+ Average Quarter Hour Share has doubled from
1.9 share to 4.0 share
-- Station AQH rank has risen from 9(th) to 4(th) with their target Persons
18-49, 8(th) to 3(rd) with Men 18-49, and 6(th) to 3(rd) with Men 25-54
-- Time Spent Listening has grown in each successive survey from 3:45 to
8:00 hours per week overall and 4:00 to 9:30 hours weekly with core
M18-49 listeners
Digging deeper into the core station listener Audingo superserves reveals the secret to exponential ratings growth:
-- P1 listeners (listeners who tune into to Rock 103.9 more than any other
station) now represent 50% of the station's cumulative audience, up from
30%
-- P1 listeners now generate a phenomenal 90% of the station's AQH Rating,
up from 67%
-- Super Core listeners (listeners who listen over 100 quarter hours per
week) have progressively grown from 0% to an exceptional 16%
Brazos Valley Communications Vice President-General Manager Chris Kiske - helped launch Rock 103.9 and happens to be a former Arbitron Senior Account Manager - believes Audingo has been an important ingredient in their ratings success.
"Obviously it starts with the music and personalities, but Audingo has provided a unique and budget-friendly option for my personalities to connect with our core listeners and cultivate that relationship in a personal manner by using their most recognizable talent, their voice - not web design or witty posts," said Kiske. "The option of having prospective diarykeepers or a PPM panel member receiving a personalized phone call from my airstaff every day on the same devices Arbitron would likely be using to recruit them was the best idea I'd heard since my early days at 104 KRBE in Houston when we tried to blanket our 'Hot Zips' with Direct Mail pieces on the off chance that we'd be in the same mailbox as an Arbitron diary."
Audingo's growth is being fueled by a recently announced $3 million funding from angel investors, which is enabling the company to make its groundbreaking platform available for use by personalities, organizations and their fans nationwide - in the world of radio and beyond.
"Audingo empowers personalities and organizations, helping them to stay relevant and competitive in a world full of distractions that are competing for the attention of their fans," said Audingo Founder and CEO Michael Boukadakis, who is also a voice processing and IVR expert. "It's exciting to now be able to look at Rock 103.9's ratings over the course of a year while using Audingo during our pilot phase and say definitively to the diary market folks that there is a direct correlation between Audingo and increased ratings."
