Starting today, Netflix members can watch the premiere exclusive of Bill Burr's You People are All the Same, before ever having been featured on demand or broadcast TV. The special comes hot on the heels of Kevin Hart's hilarious new concert film Laugh at My Pain and Jim Gaffigan's crowd pleaser Mr. Universe becoming available on the service.
The specials are available to watch instantly in the US, UK, Ireland and Canada, introducing the trio of U.S. comics to a broader audience and reaffirming the role of Netflix as a global venue for the best in stand-up comedy.
"We have always worked hard to keep our members entertained with comedic content, not only TV shows and movies, but also stand-up specials from some of the world's leading comedians," said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer for Netflix. "We are excited to expand that offering with three new specials from some of our favorite comedians, Kevin Hart, Jim Gaffigan and Bill Burr."
Alright, alright, alriiiight! Longtime Netflix favorite Kevin Hart's 90-city Laugh at My Pain tour was one of the biggest comedy concert tours in history. The film special of the same name broke box office records last year, grossing nearly $8 million and putting Hart in a league with Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy among the most successful comedians ever. Hart is currently underway on his Let Me Explain tour, hitting stages around the globe through the end of the year. For more information, visit www.khartonline.com
"Netflix is a great partner for standup - they understand my creative vision," said Hart. "With Laugh at My Pain - it's the one place where I can stream my unedited, director's cut version for my fans. They're also showing me the love internationally - streaming my stand-up shows in the UK, Ireland and Canada too."
Jim Gaffigan, the Indiana man whose stand-up shows have delighted US Netflix members for years, is back with Mr. Universe, a Washington D.C. stand-up concert where he (and his inner voice) takes on everything from Disney World and overweight whales to life with four kids in a tiny apartment. Gaffigan is currently on the road performing his latest material with The America Tour. Find out more and grab tickets at www.jimgaffigan.com
Bill Burr's first two specials have long entertained U.S. Netflix members and his latest show You People Are All the Same, recorded in Washington D.C., again ups the ante with Burr's insights on getting a gun, the perils of plastic surgery, gold-diggers and more. Burr can be heard weekly on his Monday Morning Podcast and he is touring theaters internationally. Find a venue near you at www.billburr.com.
In the words of Mr. Burr, "I found a great home at Netflix. They promote and play my specials more than any other network. Can't say enough great things about them."
Netflix members love stand-up, and the world's leading Internet subscription service for enjoying T.V. shows and films has helped introduce millions of viewers to such hugely popular comics as Ricky Gervais, Eddie Izzard, Zach Galifianakis, Patton Oswalt, Rafinha Bastos, Russell Peters, Whitney Cummings, Margaret Cho, Caroline Reid (aka Pam Ann) and many more.
