Jersey Dreamin' Concerts in Mentor and Akron Benefit Local Veterans' Organizations

AKRON, Ohio and MENTOR, Ohio, Aug. 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Pedal For Heroes, Toys For Tots, The Andy Nowacki Foundation, and The University of Akron's Veterans' Affairs Committee are teaming up to present Jersey Dreamin' concerts benefitting local veterans' charitable organizations on Saturday, October 6 at the Mentor Fine Arts Center in Mentor and on Sunday, October 7 at E.J. Thomas Hall in Akron. The concert features performances by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and original lead singer of the Shirelles, Shirley Alston Reeves, Bobby Valli with his Jersey Boys Tribute to The Four Seasons and the original Crest, J.T. Carter.

"Ohio veterans have given so much for us," said Jerry Lynch of Pedal For Heroes. "For some Ohio veterans, the battle doesn't end when they come home and they struggle with a variety of issues. Jersey Dreamin' will be a great event to help raise awareness of their struggle and bring financial support to local veterans' organizations."

Opening the show, J.T. Carter from The Crests will sing their hits including, "Sixteen Candles". Bobby Valli will perform his Jersey Boys Tribute to The Four Seasons including songs "Ronnie", "Walk Like a Man" and "Big Girls Don't Cry". The Shirelles original lead singer and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Shirley Alston Reeves will sing a tribute to veterans with "Soldier Boy" and other hits including, "Will You Love Me Tomorrow."

Pedal For Heroes is an organization dedicated to building awareness of veterans' issues and raising funds for local veterans' charities to help veterans and honor Ohio fallen soldiers. An annual indoor cycling event takes place on the last Sunday in February to honor the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. Andy Nowacki dedicated his life to helping others and was killed in action on February 26, 2005 while protecting a convoy south of Baghdad. His family chose to honor his life by providing scholarships to students who want to serve their communities as a firefighter, EMT, or police officer. The Andy Nowacki Foundation is a 501(C)(3) non-profit corporation.
