TICKETS FOR THE BENEFIT ARE LIMITED AND ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH RON BARBER FOR CONGRESS
TUCSCON, Ariz., Aug. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash are supporting Rep. Ron Barber's (D-AZ) race for Congress at a special private reception in Tucsonon September 5. The benefit event takes place from 6-7PM, just prior to the 8PM Crosby, Stills & Nash concert at Tucson's San Anselmo Valencia Amphitheater. Tickets for the private reception are $250 per person, and can be purchased through Ron Barber for Congress (www.ronbarberforcongress.com) by contacting Brittany Steinke at 520-207-0937 or rsvp@ronbarberforcongress.com. RSVP is required and space is limited.
Rep. Barber (D-AZ) was sworn into Congress in June 2012, after winning a special election to fill former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' seat Congress; he will defend the seat in the general election on November 6. Giffords stepped down earlier this year to focus full-time on her recovery from injuries sustained from being shot in the head in January 2011 at a "Congress On Your Corner" event outside a Tucson area grocery store. Barber, who was then Giffords' District Director, was also wounded in the shooting, which injured 18 people and killed six, including a Giffords staffer, a nine-year-old girl, and a federal judge.
Previously, Crosby, Stills & Nash were among the artists who performed a March 2011 benefit concert for the Fund For Civility, Respect and Understanding (www.fundforcivility.org), which was founded by Barber and his family during his recovery last year. The non-partisan Fund is envisioned as "a living memorial to the events of January 8, 2011...working to build a community where people feel safe, are treated with dignity, and where we can all work together without rancor to solve community problems."
Crosby, Stills & Nash's Tuscon stop takes place during the group's U.S. Summer Tour, which concludes with four nights at New York City's Beacon Theatre in October. CSN 2012, a 25-song set presenting the group's first live performance film in more than 20 years, was released earlier this summer. Captured in high-definition during the early portion of CSN's 2012 world tour, the set is available worldwide from CSN Records in Blu-ray, DVD/2CD (3 discs), and Digital formats.
More than four decades since CSN first harmonized in Laurel Canyon, and played their first-ever concert as a trio at the legendary Woodstock festival, its members continue a creative partnership that is one of the most influential and enduring in music. David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash have each been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame two times--once with Crosby, Stills & Nash, and a second time with The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, and The Hollies, respectively. They have also been inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame, with the honor recognizing both CSN as a group, and each member as individual solo artists.
CSN's music first became a cornerstone of rock 'n roll with the self-titled 1969 debut LP, one of Rolling Stone's "500 Greatest Albums of All Time." Ever since--through changing times, various configurations, and acclaimed solo careers--Crosby, Stills & Nash have continued to tour and record as "three together."
