Best Arts & Entertainment Reporting to Be Honored by L.A. Press Club

Journalists across all platforms may enter contest or be entered by news organizations or publicists for best work, July 1, 2011-June 30, 2012

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Aug. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The L.A. Press Club announces its "Call for Entries" is underway for its 5(th) Annual National Entertainment Journalism Awards (NEJ).

The nearly 100-year-old club, situated in the heart of the nation's entertainment capital, will honor U.S.-based show business and arts reporters and photographers across all media platforms, including theater, film and television critics.

The contest is wide open, with journalists of every type and from every market invited to compete. Entries from international journalists working in another language are eligible, with English translations.

Categories now include investigative journalism, nonfiction books, podcasts and documentary film.

"The NEJ is the only media contest to recognize the importance of arts and entertainment reporting," said L.A. Press Club President Will Lewis. "It remains one of the fastest growing specialties of our profession and produces some of the best writing, reporting and photography."

Individual journalists may enter themselves or be entered by others, including news organizations and publicists. Entries in a foreign language must include a translation.

One cash prize of $500 is awarded to Entertainment Journalist of the Year.

Complete rules, categories and entry forms are available at http://LAPressClub.org

The Early Bird Deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at 6 p.m. Pacific time. Any entry received after will pay $60 per entry instead of $50. Los Angeles Press Club members enjoy a 20% discount on all entries.

The Final Deadline is Oct. 3, 2012.

Winners will be announced at an awards gala on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 in the Crystal Ballroom of the historic Millennium Biltmore in Los Angeles. Last year's lifetime achievement award went to Hugh Hefner. Past winners are listed at http://bit.ly/QWnSfR
