Alameda Theater Announces Capital Campaign And Renovation

Mayor Julian Castro, Bexar County Judge Nelson W. Wolff address media conference attendees

SAN ANTONIO, Aug. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Today the iconic Alameda Theater was the backdrop to a capital campaign and renovation announcement made at a media conference led by Ernest Bromley, Chair of the non-profit organization and Chief Executive Officer of Bromley Communications, LLC.

"It's an exciting day for us and an important milestone in the history of the Alameda Theater," said Bromley. "We are in the middle of demolition, and it is important for us to secure more funding for the continued renovation of the theater."

Attendees heard Mayor Julian Castro recognize the significance of the theater as he recalled family stories of seeing popular, Mexican film star Cantinflas at the Alameda Theater during the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. Bexar County Judge Nelson W. Wolff shared his enthusiasm for the campaign, as he thanked those who participated in this community effort in the past and those who continue working on this effort now.

The Alameda Theater has $7,100,000 in secured funds and $14,500,000 in unsecured funds. It plans to re-open as a new, state-of-the-art theater by April 2015.
