Students from the Ages of 17 to 70 Graduate with Professional Recording Sessions from Bloom School of Jazz
CHICAGO, July 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Nine vocal students have just graduated from the Bloom School of Jazz's Perfect Set Recording Project (http://bloomschoolofjazz.com/perfect-set-recording-project), and as culmination of the year-long class, each of the singers has emerged from a professional recording session with an eight- to ten-song master recording. Perfect Set Recording Project students also took the stage at Chicago's Mayne Stage for a showcase performance on January 8, 2012. A documentary film project is in the works.
"The Perfect Set course was created to teach, support and produce talented musicians and singers who need help in the development and presentation of their talent," explained David Bloom, the school's founder. "This involves picking the right tunes, which I refer to as 'tunes that love you,' and arranging, rehearsing, performing and recording. Everybody in that course had something to say."*
In other courses at The Bloom School of Jazz students study the basics -- ear training, theory and instrumental technique -- but the ultimate goal of the school, said Bloom, is for each student to learn to appreciate and develop his or her own unique voice and understand how to use music as a way to communicate when words are not enough. It's a foundation that has helped countless musicians and vocalists fuel their own creativity through music.
The Perfect Set consists of 45 classes over a year and includes ten student concerts, each with a professional rhythm section; eight to ten tunes composed or chosen for each student; and a professional recording session and performance. The Perfect Set Recording Project is limited to ten students and open to instrumentalists and vocalists of all styles and age. Enrollment for the next session is open now.
