Bob and Mike Bryan, 11-time Grand Slam winners, will again headline the event. The exceptionally talented twins hold a world's record with 72 ATP World Tour Tournament wins and bring a unique style of play and prestige to contemporary men's doubles tennis.
Held at Mill Valley's Harbor Point Tennis Club on September 22 and 23, the Esurance Tennis Classic allows tennis fans to enjoy an up-close view of top-notch tennis action. Proceeds from the event go to benefit the To Celebrate Life Breast Cancer Foundation, Youth Tennis Advantage, and Northern Light School.
Joining the Bryan Brothers at this year's event are:
-- Three-time Grand Slam winner Lindsay Davenport
-- 17-time Grand Slam doubles winner and 2010 International Tennis Hall of
Fame inductee Gigi Fernandez
-- 1994 Wimbledon Singles Champion Conchita Martinez
-- Four-time Grand Slam doubles winner Mark Knowles
-- Six-time Grand Slam doubles winner Rennae Stubbs
-- French Open doubles winner Murphy Jensen
The all-star lineup will compete in the new World Cup Team Challenge, USA versus The World. Similar to the Davis Cup and Fed Cup, the challenge features World Team Tennis format and scoring. Players will compete in men's and women's singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. The new format brings an international flavor to the event and encourages patriotism and friendly rivalry.
While the Esurance Tennis Classic is primarily about tennis, this year, the Bryans will also trade in their rackets for instruments and headline a music performance with Bay Area pop/soul songsters Pride and Joy on Friday, September 21, at Marin Center Veterans' Memorial Auditorium in San Rafael. The Harbor Point Charitable Foundation will present "The Concert for Giving" benefiting Meals of Marin, the Marin Food Bank, and the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room.
Rosie Casals, Hall of Famer and San Francisco native, produces the Esurance Tennis Classic in conjunction with the Harbor Point Charitable Foundation's Chief Operations Officer Bob Kaliski, owner of The Club at Harbor Point.
San Francisco-based car insurance company Esurance has been title sponsor of the tournament since 2006, helping to raise money for charity and bringing world-class tennis to Bay Area tennis fans.
