Sam Ash Music Opens 2nd Roland V-Drums Planet X Showroom in San Antonio, Texas

Sam Ash Music Opens 2nd Roland V-Drums Planet X Showroom in San Antonio, Texas

HICKSVILLE, N.Y., July 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Sam Ash Music Corp. is pleased to celebrate the grand opening of its second Roland V-Drums Planet X showroom at its San Antonio, Texas, retail store on July 17, 2012. V-Drums Planet X showcases the complete line of Roland V-Drums electronic percussion products and accessories, and -- along with a highly trained sales staff and cutting edge interactive technology -- promises drummers a hands-on shopping experience like no other.

With nearly 300 square feet of dedicated retail floor space and seven fully equipped electronic drum kits, the San Antonio V-Drums Planet X showroom enables customers to fully experience the sound and feel of the Roland V-Drums line. Renowned Austrian-born drummer, multi-instrumentalist and record producer Thomas Lang will be on hand to present a special in-store performance and drum clinic featuring Roland's flagship TD-30KV V-Drums V-Pro® Series electronic drum kit.

The San Antonio Sam Ash Music Store is the second location in the company's nationwide chain to install a Roland V-Drums Planet X showroom after the opening of a Planet X showroom at its Torrance, Calif., store in March of this year.

"Planet X is an elite space for learning about Roland V-Drums," said Tim Root, manager of Roland's Drum and Percussion Division. "It combines a top-level environment for evaluating products with a highly knowledgeable staff who know how to demonstrate the sophisticated features of the Roland V-Drums line."

Understanding the current offerings in the electronic drums market, says Root, can pose a challenge for customers who can easily be overwhelmed by the technical specifications of each product. By putting drummers behind full drum kits, including kick drums, snares, toms, and a wide array of electronic cymbals from hi-hats to crash and rides, they can get a sense for the true feel of this highly-evolved technology.

"A lot of electronic drums look the same," said Root. "But you have to play them to understand what sets them apart."

Planet X will enable drummers to do this with its custom-built sound stage, multiple computers and widescreen video monitors, and a live connection to Roland V-Drums Friend Jam, the first social networking tool designed explicitly for drummers, allowing them to connect, share and compete with other Roland V-Drums users in real-time over the Internet.

"Planet X provides this opportunity in a very cool space," said Root. "Drummers can move around from one set to the next, and hear and feel the difference. It's like an amusement park for drummers!"

In addition to sitting down to evaluate the latest offerings from the Roland V-Drums line, drummers who visit Planet X can expect to learn about the technology that brings the sound and feel of acoustic drums to life, whether listening through headphones or plugging into an amplifier. Kits range from the entry level Roland HD-3 V-Drums Lite to the professional quality TD-30KV kit powered by Roland's flagship TD-30 drum sound module. Roland V-Drums feature SuperNATURAL® sounds, behavior modeling and V-cymbals that respond to the way you play them -- including rim shots, rolls, and swells -- to produce a drumming experience with superior realism and playability.

"Electronic drums are not what you remember from the '80s," said Al Vetere, Percussion Product Manager at Sam Ash Music. "Roland pioneered electronic drum technology then, and never let up. From mesh head pads that feel like the real thing to chokable cymbals, Roland's latest electronic drum kits are just stunning. We wanted to let Sam Ash customers hear what these kits are capable of, and our new Planet X showrooms are the best way to do it."

The Roland V-Drums Planet X Grand Opening and Drum Clinic event featuring Thomas Lang will be held at the Sam Ash Music San Antonio store at 25 Northeast Loop 410 (at McCullough) at 4:00 p.m., July 17, 2012, and will include product demonstrations, contests, prizes and special pricing on Roland percussion products. Thomas Lang's in-store performance on the TD-30KV electronic drum set begins at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call: (210) 530-9777.
