OrangeRoc Produces Award-Winning Documentary
Winner at 33rd Annual Telly Awards
HONOLULU, July 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Telly Awards has named OrangeRoc as a Silver winner and a Bronze winner in the 33rd Annual Telly Awards for their documentary titled "Na Wahine O Kupono - Women of Excellence." OrangeRoc received the 2012 Silver Telly Award in the non-profit category and the Bronze Telly Award in the religious/spirituality category in broadcast/film production.
OrangeRoc produced both the website and 15-minute documentary which explores the lives of four incarcerated women involved with the Total Life Recovery (TLR) Program. This program and modality of change was founded by Chaplain Bonnie Holcombe. Through interviews with TLR participants, OrangeRoc was able to share the women's stories, struggles, dreams and the positive impact that TLR has had on their lives. To view the documentary, visit www.totalliferecovery.org. OrangeRoc's team including Melinda Mullis, Angela Neri and Kristen Makanoa strived to create a film that raises awareness for the faith-based program. This project was made possible by funding provided by Consuelo Foundation, Harold K.L. Castle Foundation and OrangeRoc.
The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding TV commercials and programs, video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.
A prestigious judging panel of over 500 industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of The Silver Telly Council, judged the competition. In addition to recognition from the Silver Telly Council, the Internet community also helps decide the People's Telly Awards winners.
"We are thrilled to have been presented two Telly awards for a project that has become so close to our hearts," said Melinda Mullis, Principal of OrangeRoc. "Being able to convey the stories of these women has been a longtime goal in our effort to raise awareness."
