Belo Names Mark D. Pimentel to Lead KMOV-TV and Tod A. Smith to Lead WWL-TV and WUPL-TV

DALLAS, June 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Television company Belo Corp. (NYSE: BLC) announced today that Mark D. Pimentel has been named president and general manager of KMOV-TV, Belo's CBS-affiliated station in St. Louis, Missouri. The Company also announced that Tod A. Smith has been named president and general manager of WWL-TV and WUPL-TV, Belo's CBS-affiliated station and MNTV station, respectively, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Since August 2007, Pimentel has served as president and general manager of WHAS-TV, Belo's ABC-affiliated station in Louisville, Kentucky. Smith most recently served as president and general manager of WVEC, Belo's ABC-affiliated station in Hampton/Norfolk, Virginia, a position he has held since August 2009.

Pimentel joined Belo from WTVQ in Lexington, Kentucky where he had served as vice president and general manager. Prior to that, he served as vice president and general manager of WTVR in Richmond, Virginia, and vice president and general manager of WAFF-TV in Huntsville, Alabama. He was a news director at various television stations from 1989 to 1995 including: WXIA-TV in Atlanta, Georgia; WBFF-TV in Baltimore, Maryland; and WCBD-TV in Charleston, South Carolina. Early in his career, he was both an executive producer and a news producer at television stations in Atlanta, Boston, Raleigh/Durham and Dayton. Pimentel earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Journalism from Marietta College.

Before joining WVEC, Smith served as president and general manager of KMSB-TV and KTTU-TV, Belo's duopoly stations in Tucson, Arizona. Prior to that, he was a vice president and media director for Peter A. Mayer Advertising in New Orleans. Smith started his career at WWL in 1980 as a production assistant and was promoted to engineer in 1982 while working toward his college degree. Upon completion of his degree in 1984, Smith joined Shell Oil Company. He rejoined WWL in 1993 as a marketing executive. In 1995, Smith was named director of research and audience development, and was promoted to local sales manager in 1999. Smith holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in management from Loyola University of New Orleans.
