Mary Pickford Foundation Appoints Cari Beauchamp As Resident Scholar To Advance Legacy Of Film Pioneer And Philanthropist Mary Pickford

MURRIETA, Calif., May 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cari Beauchamp, award-winning film historian, has been appointed Resident Scholar of the Mary Pickford Foundation effective immediately, it was announced today by Henry Stotsenberg, chairman and CEO of the Foundation.

Beauchamp, along with Elaina Archer who was recently named Director of Archive and Legacy, will assist the Foundation in creating an online clearing house and research center that will feature access to the vast collections of original videos and writings as well as photograph collections, film clips and historical material on Mary Pickford.

In addition, they will be developing a wide range of projects to educate current and future generations through public lectures, screenings, community education programs and more. Beauchamp will also be authoring a legacy page that will feature her original writings and those of visiting writers about the tremendous impact Mary and her colleagues had on the film industry.

Beauchamp is the author of Without Lying Down: Frances Marion and the Powerful Women of Early Hollywood, the book that established her as one of the pre-eminent specialists on the women of silent cinema. She has written four other histories including her latest, Joseph P. Kennedy Presents: His Hollywood Years for which she was named an Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences Scholar. In 2011, she was honored with an unprecedented second Film Scholarship by the Academy for her upcoming work on Gloria Swanson. Beauchamp has also written and produced documentaries, writes for Vanity Fair and is a judge for the Los Angeles Times Book Awards. She often appears as an expert historian in documentaries including Turner Classic Movies' recent Moguls and Movie Stars and Mark Cousin's The Story of Film as well as being a frequent speaker at universities and film festivals.
