May Is Premiere Month On Discovery en Espanol, With Exciting Series That Prove Reality Is Truly Stranger Than Fiction

Premieres include original productions "Puertas al mas alla" and "Instinto asesino" and the new series "Policias y coyotes" and "Guerra de marihuana"

MIAMI, April 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning on May 7, Discovery en Espanol brings you several new series that examine the human condition through extraordinary stories. With grisly murders, crimes of passion and terrifying brushes with the paranormal, these series illustrate how reality is truly stranger than fiction.

One of the most anticipated programs is the new season of Puertas al mas alla, which airs Wednesdays at 9 PM E/P. Through first person narratives, this original series profiles incredible paranormal experiences and transports viewers to an unknown dimension where the boundaries between life and death intertwine.

Also, criminal investigative series Instinto asesino returns to analyze some of the most horrific crimes committed in Latin America. The new season, which airs Wednesdays at 10 PM E/P, gets inside the minds of those who commit the most gruesome, unimaginable crimes. The series was recorded at the actual crime scenes and examines cases from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Chile and Venezuela.

In addition to these original productions, Discovery en Espanol will also premiere: Hasta que la mafia nos separe, Amor asesino, Fobias extremas, Policias y coyotes and Guerra de marihuana. All these series present stories based on real events, centered around complex characters in conflict with their personal demons, society or the law.

During the month of May all Dish subscribers will be able to enjoy these exciting new series and more during a special free preview. Below is a snapshot of the new and returning series that will air on Discovery en Espanol beginning on May 7, with descriptions and times:

Hasta que la mafia nos separe - Mondays at 9 PM E/P
This new docu-series brings unprecedented access into this secretive world, where breaking your vows could literally get you killed.

Amor asesino - Mondays at 10 PM E/P
The series explores sordid stories of betrayal, deception, and sexual intrigue that comprise a particularly salacious subset of murders: crimes of passion. This hour-long series gives viewers a voyeuristic peek into the lust and animalistic obsession that have fueled some of the more brutal acts of violence to grab front-page headlines across the globe.

Fobias extremas - Tuesdays at 9 PM E/P
The dictionary definition makes it all sound so simple: Zoophobia - An abnormal and persistent fear of animals. Of course, nothing is ever that simple. Certainly not for the hundreds of thousands of Americans who literally cannot leave their homes because they are afraid of what is walking, crawling, climbing and slithering outside. Their fear of animals is threatening their families, their incomes and their sanity.

Puertas al mas alla - Wednesdays at 9 PM E/P
This original series brings to life the scariest and most intriguing ghost stories in Latin America, with episodes shot in Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Argentina. Told by the very people who witnessed these apparitions and with state of the art special effects, the program goes in depth in the drama and suspense that could take hold of our own homes.

Instinto asesino - Wednesdays at 10 PM E/P
In this third season of Instinto Asesino, terror and death stalk the upper classes. Real cases of powerful men and women who commit the most gruesome crimes, believing they are above the law. This popular investigative series returns to look at ten closed cases, including a sinister dismemberment in Colombia, a shooting in downtown Santiago de Chile and the chilling hurling of a young girl from a building window in Brazil.

Policias y coyotes - Thursdays at 9 PM E/P
With unique access to Maricopa County's SWAT and Human Smuggling Units and the US Border Patrol, this intense new series follows Arizona's elite police units as they battle to protect America against a Mexican crime wave flooding across the fragile border.

Guerra de marihuana - Fridays at 9 PM E/P
This docudrama showcases a reality unfamiliar to most Americans - the world of legal marijuana. Centered on the nation's largest medical marijuana dispensary in Oakland, CA, we get up close and personal with owner Steve DeAngelo, the self-described "agent of change - bringing the truth about the cannabis plant to the rest of the world." Nearby, there's another side of the story, where the Forest Service and Border Patrol are in charge of the marijuana game.
