Darnaa started generating worldwide interest after releasing a cover and YouTube video of R.E.M.'s "Everybody Hurts," dedicated to the victims and families of the 9/11 tragedy. She went on to cover The Dixie Chicks "Not Ready to Make Nice" and gained a strong YouTube following after the release of her music video for the song. Almost 225,000 people have seen the videos. In less than a month Darnaa has over 80,000 twitter followers and has risen to #25 in the Reverb Nation ranking of New York Indy Artists.

Darnaa sings on "Runaway" about her own personal experience of being a child runaway from an abusive home and not having anyone to protect her. It is a powerful and haunting song. Her soon to be premiered music video is a sobering but triumphant statement about the seemingly hopeless reality of an abused 11-year-old girl.

The message in her song is that young girls and boys in abusive situations must not silently endure it. While Darnaa personally chose to run away from her home repeatedly, she encourages other children experiencing abuse at home to speak up and tell an adult outside of the home about it.

"Child abuse should not be endured by anyone," says Darnaa. "People know when a child is being abused but often choose not to intervene."

"I want to empower people! The world is not always fair and I've yet to learn how to forgive those who abused me and move on," says Darnaa. She continues, "My life hasn't always been, what you would consider normal. Far from it actually, but I used my music and writing, as a way to cope and now I want to share it with others."

Darnaa knows firsthand that as lonely and afraid as an abused child may feel, there are people they can trust and who will help to end and treat child abuse.
