"Mathematics is a true passion of mine and I am thrilled to be working with Casio in support of their PRIZM calculator," said McKellar. "The PRIZM has an amazing color display, and its graphing features are incredibly powerful. Power, smarts, beauty - the whole package; who says 'smart' has to be dull?"
Casio's PRIZM calculator represents the latest innovation in classroom technology and is a next-generation graphing calculator. PRIZM(TM) includes Casio's proprietary "Picture Plot*1" technology, which enables users to perform meaningful mathematical equations on top of real-life images, transforming how technology is used in the classroom.
"The Picture Plot feature is awesome," said McKellar. "I just plotted the parabolic curve of an adorable little flying fish jumping from one fishbowl to another. This feature really hits home the point that math is everywhere - from suspension bridges to seashells to yes, flying fish."
"We are thrilled that Danica will be representing the Casio brand," said Andy Zweig, general manager of Casio's Education Division. "Her unique combination of expertise and passion in mathematics make her a natural fit to serve as a spokesperson."
McKellar studied mathematics and graduated with highest honors from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She has been honored for her work in mathematics, most notably for her role as co-author of a ground-breaking mathematical physics theorem called The Chayes-McKellar-Winn Theorem.
She has authored three The New York Times bestselling books on the topic of mathematics. Her first book, titled "Math Doesn't Suck: How to Survive Middle-School Math without Losing Your Mind or Breaking a Nail," encourages middle school-aged girls to enjoy and succeed at mathematics. Additional books include "Kiss My Math: Showing Pre-Algebra Who's Boss" and "Hot X: Algebra Exposed!" which are both aimed at girls and helping them to learn pre-algebra and algebra with confidence.
