Camp Canaan, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Creates 1st Annual Canaan Music Festival featuring Tenth Avenue North, Many National, Regional and Local Charlotte, N.C. Bands

All proceeds from the weekend of music, food, adventure, and art go to provide summer camp scholarships for deserving children. The Festival takes place April 27-28 2012 at Camp Canaan in Rock Hill, South Carolina and features a variety of musical styles in a family-friendly environment

ROCK HILL, S.C., April 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Celebrating original music from the region, and the nation, the first annual Canaan Music Festival will be held on Friday evening, April 27 and all day Saturday, April 28. All activities will take place at Camp Canaan, located on a 100-acre island in the Catawba River at Rock Hill, SC, just 25 minutes south of Charlotte, NC.

Nick Wimmer, Executive Director of the Camp says, "No one would ever guess that a beautiful property with this many amenities exists this close to Rock Hill South Carolina and Charlotte, North Carolina."

Musicians featured at the festival represent a variety of musical styles - bluegrass, folk, Americana, contemporary Christian, and even a little Southern rock. Musicians scheduled to appear include Tenth Avenue North, The Advice (with guest Jim Sonefeld), Matrimony, Jill Andrews, Songs of Water, Nora Jane Struthers, Woodland, Sugarloaf Mountain Boys, Boys of the Bog, and School of Rock.

In addition to music, Camp Canaan will offer camping and cabin rentals, an arts bazaar, kids activities and food and beverage vendors. Those looking for adventure can participate in a zipline canopy tour, kayaking, a high ropes course, and swimming.

Tickets are $10 for Friday night only, $15, for Saturday only, or $23 for the weekend. Children 12 and under are free with a paying adult. Prices increase by $5 during the week of the festival. Camping spaces, cabin rentals, and meal plans are also available for the weekend for additional fees.

Camp Canaan seeks to help people discover their purpose, find hope, and grow in a community of faith. It seeks to engage them in an innovative but simple way through the environment of summer camps, retreats, and adventure programs. Established in 2003, Canaan has also established a reputation as an excellent site for picnics, corporate meetings, family outings, and group volunteer days.
